Adapted from the popular professional format, XAVC S is the supreme consumer standard for recording 4K/HD movies. With support up to HD 50Mbps, you can record high-resolution movies even in a shot with heavy movement.

An enriched Full HD experience

Enjoy super-sampled Full HD playback on your HD TV, which uses the surplus of 4K data to automatically down-convert 4K footage to Full HD. To crop a 4K image to Full HD, simply trace your finger on the camcorder's LCD screen to define the area.

5.1 ch Dolby

5.1 ch surround sound recording capabilities let you create professional-level soundtracks that bring out the full potential of your movies. So viewers feel they are part of the action. Notes: Dolby Digital 5.1 ch and stereo 2 ch recording are supported in the AVCHD format. PCM recording is supported in the XAVC S format.

Simple wireless connectivity with smartphones and more

Connect wirelessly with your phone, tablet or TV Built-in Wi-Fi® and NFC lets you wirelessly transfer movie clips and photos from Handycam® to your smartphone or tablet at a single touch. To get started, just download the free PlayMemories Mobile app for your iOS or Android device. Touching Handycam® with your NFC-enabled mobile device also activates Smart Remote Control. Start and stop recording with your mobile — it’s ideal for nightscape shooting that you want to avoid blur caused by operation button pressing, group scenes or solo performances when you don’t want to run from the camcorder back into the scene once recording’s started. Wi-Fi® also allows wireless playback of content stored on Handycam on your networked TV (DLNA renderer compatible TV and access point are required: not compatible with XAVC S format).
