Samsung HWJ8501 Wireless Curved Soundbar

The HW-J8501 is the top end of Samsung's 2015 soundbar range. It's just the same as the HW-J8500, just in a silver finish instead of black. It's curved to match the curved range of Samsung televisions so we suspect you'll only be interested in this soundbar if you own one of the larger Samsung curved screens as the curve will match exactly. This is any 60" set and above and will include ranges such as the HU8500, the JS9000 and the JS9500. If you are using one of these sets then connectivity couldn't be easier as it will all be wireless. Your Samsung TV will connect wirelessly and the subwoofer will connect wirelessly too so the only thing you'll need to plug in is the power. The subwoofer can therefore be hidden away if you'd like, perhaps behind your sofa or in a corner, without any worrying about leads around the room. If you like though you can use HDMI cables to connect instead. This might be handy if you intend to use a Blu-ray player as an audio player - by connecting it through the soundbar you'll be able to listen to CD's whilst your television is off. However you choose to connect, you'll get great sound from your TV. However, there's some clever stuff in this soundbar. As well as the cracking 350W of overall power you can also get music from a huge variety of sources. On it's own you can plug anything in via the built in audio input, or you can use Bluetooth to connect your phone or other Bluetooth audio devices such as a tablet computer. However, things get clever when you add a Samsung HUB. This small device plugs into your router and allows this soundbar to access music stored anywhere in your home via a handy app for your Apple or Android phone. It can also go online to access free and subscription music services such as Spotify or internet radio. You can even add speakers to other rooms to give yourself a wireless multi room system, very much like a Sonos system. Clever! We like this huge range of features as well as the great sound. The soundbar has dedicated left, right and centre speakers giving you clear vocals and great effects, especially on movies so you'll get a huge boost to your televisions sound.
