The most striking feature of the Sigma 135mm F1.4 DG Art is its extremely strong bokeh. The effective aperture diameter of the 135mm F1.4 Lens creates exceptional foreground and background blur. This is even softer than that of the Sigma 105mm F1.4 DG HSM Art, known as the “Bokeh Master”, and is comparable to that of the Sigma 200mm F2 DG OS Sports. The natural perspective that only a 135mm lens can offer, together with the stunning bokeh, highlights the subject and creates unique, spatial portraits that are only possible with this lens.
The effective aperture diameter
The effective aperture diameter is calculated by dividing the focal length by the f-number. It refers to the diameter of the light beam that creates an image in the center of the image sensor. A larger effective aperture results in a shallower depth of field and more pronounced bokeh.

By thoroughly correcting the chromatic aberration that often occurs with telephoto lenses, the Sigma 135mm F1.4 DG Art delivers clear bokeh without colour fringing. The optical design also minimizes vignetting and ensures natural, almost circular bokeh bubbles even at the edges and delivers the full potential of the wide-open aperture.

An aperture consisting of 13 blades provides the Sigma 135mm F1.4 DG Art with absolutely soft foreground and background blur. The exceptionally precise aspherical lenses further enhance the softness of the out-of-focus areas. This beautiful, natural bokeh is based on the know-how that Sigma has acquired through many years of developing F1.4 fixed focal length lenses and the modern production technology at the factory in Aizu.
